League recap: George throws longest pass in league this season for Shelby

RJ George and Antwan Wright provided fans with a highlight when they connected against South Point. The longest such play in 3A/2A Conference 4 this season, the connection resulted in 78 yards.

Chase moved up to 146 from 235 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Trojans were able to make move up by beating Bandys 38-13.

Shelby's dynamic duo of George and Ralph Jolly proved to be unstoppable against the Red Raiders, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. George threw for 324 yards and 3 touchdowns and Jolly had 130 yards receiving. Wright helped Shelby's passing attack out by catching 4 balls for 117 yards.

The Golden Lions' dynamic duo of George and Jolly proved tough for South Point to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week.

Jolly was the best wideout in the league this week as Shelby lost to Mickey Lineberger's team.

He went 14-29 with 1 interceptions.

Brandon Bell was the most successful running back in 3A/2A Conference 4 this week. He ran for 101 yards on 12 carries as Kings Mountain lost to the Red Raiders. Teammate Darian McClain added to the ground attack by rushing for 22 yards.

George put up the best numbers through the air as the Golden Lions lost to South Point.

The leading receiver in the league this season is Jolly. The Shelby star has 11 catches for 272 yards.

The top two teams in the league will face off this week when first place Chase takes on second place Burns.

Two of the top units in the league will face off this week when Shelby takes on Rutherfordton-Spindale Central. The Golden Lions' offense has scored 104 points this season, good for No. 1 in the league, while the Hilltoppers have allowed only 41 on the year.

Rutherfordton-Spindale Central was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from sixth to fourth in the league. Mike Cheek's team defeated Polk County 42-33 earlier in the week.
