Baseball Recap: Erie Has No Trouble Against Niwot

Erie won the last time they faced Niwot and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Tigers put the hurt on the Cougars with a sharp 8-1 win. The Tigers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven matches by seven runs or more this season.

Maddox Burnett made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Burnett was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one triple, one stolen base, and one run.

In other pitching news, Kaden Bertsch looked comfortable as he pitched four innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits.

Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Ronin Ward, who went 3-for-5 with three RBI, one triple, and one stolen base. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played. Kyler Colbert also deserves some recognition as he got his first hits of the season.

The victory made it two in a row for Erie and bumps their season record up to 12-5. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games. As for Niwot, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost nine of their last 11 contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-10 record this season.

Erie will head out to face off against Legacy at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Niwot, they will host Broomfield at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
