Wheeling Park had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 11.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Saturday. They put the hurt on the Warren Warriors with a sharp 9-1 win. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 15-0 on Saturday.
Gia Blacker was excellent, scoring a run while going 1-for-1. What's more, she posted three RBI, the most she's had since back in March of 2024. Abby O'Donnell was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.
Wheeling Park was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .440. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Warren only posted a batting average of .200.
Wheeling Park's victory bumped their record up to 5-3. As for Warren, they are on a six-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-4.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Wheeling Park will head out to face off against Steubenville at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Warren, they will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Parkersburg South at 5:00 p.m. on April 8.
