Football Recap: River Valley Comes Up Short on the Road Against Mcclatchy

River Valley had to start their season on the road on Friday, and it wasn't the start they were hoping for. They came up short against the McClatchy Lions, falling 26-6. The Falcons were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Lions apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in August of 2024.

When it comes to explaining why River Valley lost, don't look at Kavari Drummonds. Despite the final result, he picked up 104 receiving yards and one touchdown.

Even if they lost, River Valley's defense still kept up the pressure with four sacks. That dominant display was truly a team effort as four different players picked up one apiece.

The critical scores for McClatchy came from Jake Ferris, Robert Jackson III, Landon Moton, and John Anthon Zulli.

Coming up, River Valley is taking a road trip to square off against Pioneer at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for McClatchy, they will host Davis Sr. at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
