Recap: Raceland Rams vs. St. Joseph Central Irish

The Raceland Rams pushed their score all the way to 59 on Monday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 63-59 hit to the loss column at the hands of St. Joseph Central. While losing is never fun, Raceland can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 145th in Kentucky, while St. Joseph Central is ranked 38th in West Virginia).

Ava Gallion was her usual excellent self, scoring 29 points for St. Joseph Central. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Gallion has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Mariah Johnson, who scored seven points along with eight rebounds and three steals.

Raceland has not been sharp recently, as they've lost nine of their last 12 contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-10 record this season. As for St. Joseph Central, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 10-4.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Raceland will take on Greenup County at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for St. Joseph Central, they will be playing at home against Tug Valley at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Tug Valley is coming into the match on a five-game losing streak.
