Recap: Northwestern Warriors vs. North Union Wildcats

The Northwestern Warriors's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their ninth straight loss. They fell 64-56 to North Union. While losing is never fun, Northwestern can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 732nd, while North Union is ranked 212th).

Northwestern lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Crew Estep, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds. It was the first time this season that Estep pulled down eight or more rebounds. Mason McDermott was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with two steals.

Northwestern has not been sharp recently as the team has lost 12 of their last 13 matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-15 record this season. As for North Union, the win (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 16-3.

Northwestern didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 66-33 defeat vs. Northeastern on the 10th. North Union will be playing in front of their home fans against River Valley at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. North Union is coming into the match with six straight victories at home, so River Valley is out to stop a squad with plenty of momentum.
