Softball Game Preview: South Pemiscot Bulldogs vs. Cooter Wildcats

The South Pemiscot Bulldogs will venture away from home to square off against the Cooter Wildcats at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. South Pemiscot has given up an average of 7.8 runs per game this season, but Monday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

South Pemiscot is probably headed into the contest with a chip on their shoulder considering Bernie just ended the team's five-game winning streak on Thursday. They lost 15-3 to the Mules.

Ayleighonna Farmer made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and earned two runs and two stolen bases. She has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last six times she's played. Khyla Edwards also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.

Meanwhile, Cooter was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat dating back to last season. They came up short against Holcomb, falling 23-3.

South Pemiscot's loss dropped their record down to 11-4. As for Cooter, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-1.

Everything went South Pemiscot's way against Cooter in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, as South Pemiscot made off with a 16-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bulldogs since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
