Basketball Recap: Myrtle Takes a Loss

Myrtle was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 13th straight loss. They took a hard 68-52 fall against the Falkner Eagles. The Hawks were down 55-29 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.

Falkner was led to victory by Elijah Mauney and Chris Nunley. Mauney dropped a double-double on 24 points and ten rebounds, while Nunley posted 16 points in addition to six assists and six boards. That's the most assists Nunley has posted since back in February of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Anthony Morgan, who earned six points and five boards.

Myrtle's defeat dropped their record down to 3-14. As for Falkner, they pushed their record up to 9-7 with the win, which was their third straight at home.

While Myrtle had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 7:30 p.m. on January 24th.
