Baseball Game Preview: Mount Abram Roadrunners vs. Madison Bulldogs

The Mount Abram Roadrunners will take on the Madison Bulldogs at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Mount Abram is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.8 runs per game this season.

Madison is facing Mount Abram at the wrong time: Mount Abram suffered their first home loss of the season on Tuesday and they're likely out for redemption. They fell just short of the Saints by a score of 7-6.

Bryce Wilcox and Killian Pillsbury stepped up to the plate in a big way. Wilcox went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run, while Pillsbury went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and three runs. Wilcox is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last five games he's played. Another player making a difference was Ash Rollins, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.

Meanwhile, Madison had just enough and edged out Oak Hill 6-4 on Monday.

Landon Dunham made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Dunham was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one triple. That triple was his first of the season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jaeson Almeida, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI and one run. Those three hits gave him a new career-high.

Madison has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-4 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games. As for Mount Abram, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-3.

Mount Abram took their victory against Madison in their previous meeting back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 16-0 score. Do the Roadrunners have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Bulldogs turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
