Baseball Recap: Buffalo Grove Triumphs

Buffalo Grove won the last time they faced Wheeling and things went their way on Monday too. The Bison came out on top against the Wildcats by a score of 9-4. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Bison.

Drew Carrison was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out six batters over seven innings while giving up four earned runs off five hits. Carrison was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs.

In other batting news, Cole Diaz and Griffin Kelly did most of the damage at the plate: Diaz went 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base, while Kelly scored two runs while going 2-for-3. Buffalo Grove is 2-1 when Diaz posts two or more runs, but 2-7-2 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Hanson Joey, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-2.

Buffalo Grove's record now sits at 4-8-2. As for Wheeling, they dropped their record down to 6-5 with the defeat, which was their third straight on the road.

Buffalo Grove will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Wildcats: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:45 p.m. on Wednesday.
