Preview: North Gwinnett Bulldogs vs. Norcross Blue Devils
The North Gwinnett Bulldogs will be playing at home against the Norcross Blue Devils at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the pair posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
North Gwinnett put the finishing touches on their fourth blowout victory of the season on Friday. They took their match on the road with ease, bagging a 62-0 victory over Discovery. Given North Gwinnett's advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia football rankings (they are ranked 51st, while Discovery is ranked 387th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
North Gwinnett's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Kayden Suggs, who rushed for 76 yards and a touchdown, and Ryan Hall, who threw for 148 yards and three touchdowns on only seven passes. Nicholas Bookman was in the mix as well, providing North Gwinnett with two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Norcross had already won six in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 29.3 points), and they went ahead and made it seven on Friday. They took down Peachtree Ridge 35-17.
Norcross can attribute much of their success to Arrington (aj) Watkins, who rushed for 53 yards and two touchdowns, and Kevin Maven-winchester, who rushed for 234 yards and two touchdowns.
North Gwinnett's victory was their third straight on the road, which bumped their overall record up to 6-3. They've been dominating during the contests in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 42 points. As for Norcross, their victory bumped their record up to 8-1.
North Gwinnett was able to grind out a solid victory over Norcross in their previous matchup back in November of 2022, winning 35-27. Will North Gwinnett repeat their success, or does Norcross have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
