Basketball Recap: Arlington Takes a Loss

After soaring to 66 points the game before, Arlington was a bit more limited in their game on Wednesday. They were dealt a 51-21 defeat at the hands of the Collierville Dragons. While losing is never fun, the Tigers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 194th, while the Dragons are ranked 50th).

Arlington got a good chunk of their points from the dynamic duo of Zaria Moss and Jordan Wirt, who each put up five points. Wirt also led the team in rebounds with ten.

Jekhyra Rodgers continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Collierville, going 7 of 15 en route to 16 points and six steals. Another player making a difference was Lilly Ann Jennings, who posted six points and six steals.

Arlington's loss dropped their record down to 8-10. As for Collierville, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 12 of their last 14 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 20-4 record this season.

Arlington has already played their next match (against Houston), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Collierville will challenge Cordova at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Collierville has three straight victories, Cordova has six straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the court.
