Basketball Recap: Astronaut Takes a Loss

Astronaut was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They took a blow against the Space Coast Vipers, falling 54-8. While losing is never fun, the War Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 664th, while the Vipers are ranked 181st).

Space Coast found their leader in sophomore Phillayjah Carroll, who posted 25 points. Layla Mangum was another key player, putting up 12 points.

Astronaut's loss dropped their record down to 2-13. As for Space Coast, they are on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 14 games, which provided a nice bump to their 16-8 record this season.

Astronaut will square off against Melbourne Central Catholic at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Space Coast, they will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Cocoa Beach at 5:30 p.m. on February 4th.
