Baseball Recap: Manchester Comes Up Short

Manchester extended their losing streak to four on Wednesday, dropping them down to 0-4. They lost 18-0 to the Columbia Central Golden Eagles. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Flying Dutchmen of the 5-2 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2025.

As for Columbia Central, they pushed their record up to 7-1 with the victory, which was their fifth straight on the road. Considering they have won four games by more than ten runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

For Columbia Central's part, Conor Rentfrow made a splash while hitting and pitching. He tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Rentfrow has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in five consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in April of 2025.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Manchester will face off against East Jackson at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Columbia Central, they will square off against Alma at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
