Texas baseball offensive leaders and where rank nationally

Texas baseball players are showing they can put up as lofty stats as anyone in the country. MaxPreps looks at the top five players in three major statistical offensive categories and where they rank nationally.

Batting average
Aaron Walters, Sr., Center Point, 7th
Twenty games into the season, Walters is hitting a flashy .679. Incredibly, he has an on-base percentage of .783 in 83 plate appearances. He also has 12 multi-hit games so far this year.

J Ayala, Jr., Trinidad, 13th
Ayala is 10-for-10 in his last three games and has raised his average to .657. In his team's season opener, he reached base all three plate appearances with two doubles and five RBIs.

Charlee Robertson, Jr., Azle Christian (Azle), 14th
Robertson has jacked is average up to .653 by having multi-hit games in all 13 contests he's played in. He's also driven in 23 runs.



Matt Nicholas, Sr., New Braunfels Christian Academy (New Braunfels), 17th
Nicholas has been tearing up the diamond early on with a .643 average. He has 27 hits and 32 runs scored to go with 34 RBIs.

Brooks Embry, Sr., Riesel, 18th
Embry hasn't cooled down much from his blazing hot start to the season. He's on a 15-game hitting streak and has a .640 average. Embry has 32 hits and an on-base percentage of .753.

Home runs
Aaron Walters, Sr., Center Point, 6th
Walters has homered in eight games this season and leads the state with 13 long balls and a slugging percentage of 1.670. During a two-game stretch in late March, Walters hit six home runs and drove in 15 runs.

Drake Pierson, Sr., Northside HomeSchool (Conroe), 25th
Pierson is a stat-stuffer. He's collected nine home runs, 39 RBIs and 37 hits. The power hitter has six home runs in his team's last eight games.

Stacey Bailey, Jr., Kerens, 25th
Bailey has hit home runs in eight of his team's 22 games. He is part of a team that is tearing it up this season with a 20-1-1 record.

Cameron Haller, Sr., Marshall, 64th
Haller has gone deep in four this the past eight games and has a .808 slugging percentage this year.

Andrew Mills, Jr., Plano East, 64th
Mills homered in six of seven games midway through the season and currently has seven long balls.



Runs batted in
Tanner Broadfoot, Sr., Clyde, 18th
Broadfoot has been a bulldog for the Bulldogs. He's driven in 46 runs and tallied RBIs in 21 of his team's 26 games. Broadfoot has 14 games in which he's gotten two more RBIa.

Trevor Horton, Jr., Goldthwaite, 21st
The junior has tremendous power hitter. He's tallied 14 runs combined in a pair of victories to up his season total to 45.

Stacey Bailey, Jr., Kerens, 29th
Bailey has nine games with three RBIs or more and has 45 for the season. During one stretch, he drove in 22 runs in five games.

Aaron Walters, Sr., Center Point, 62nd
What doesn't this Walters kid rank in nationally? Not much. He's driven in 40 runs in all and 22 in the last nine games.

Brooks Embry, Sr., Riesel, 62nd
Eight times this season, Embry has logged three or more RBIs in a game. He's an explosive hitter with power – which is rare for a shortstop.
