Basketball Recap: Canby Takes a Loss

Canby lost against Tracy-Milroy-Balaton back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Canby Lancers lost 80-57 to the Tracy-Milroy-Balaton Panthers. While losing is never fun, the Lancers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Minnesota basketball rankings (they are ranked 408th, while the Panthers are ranked 108th).

This is the second loss in a row for Canby and nudges their season record down to 1-19. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.5 points over those games. As for Tracy-Milroy-Balaton, they are on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 19-4 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Canby will square off against Lakeview at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. Canby is facing Lakeview at the right time seeing as Lakeview is stuck on a five-game losing streak. As for Tracy-Milroy-Balaton, they will face off against Yellow Medicine East at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The timing isn't great for Yellow Medicine East: they have been struggling with eight straight losses at home, while Tracy-Milroy-Balaton has snatched up eight consecutive wins on the road.
