Softball Recap: Excelsior Charter Comes Up Short

Excelsior Charter couldn't beat Riverside Prep on Thursday even though they stacked five runs on them in the first inning. The Eagles took a 12-9 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Silver Knights. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Silver Knights this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 9-4 on Tuesday.

Evangeline Archuleta made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Alany Esparza, who went 2-for-3 with two runs.

This is the second loss in a row for Excelsior Charter and nudges their season record down to 11-10-1. As for Riverside Prep, they are on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-9 record this season.

Excelsior Charter does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Riverside Prep, they didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 13-4 victory against Oxford Academy on the 6th.
