Verrado proved they can win big on Thursday (they won by six) and on Friday they proved they can win the close ones too. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Willow Canyon Wildcats 2-1. The win continues a trend for the Vipers in their matchups with the Wildcats: they've now won three in a row.

Verrado's victory was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Braxton Bjur, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Verrado's win bumped their record up to 17-7-1. As for Willow Canyon, their loss was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 18-9.

Looking ahead, Verrado will welcome North Canyon at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The Vipers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Rattlers have averaged an impressive 7 runs per game this season. As for Willow Canyon, they will square off against Buckeye at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The Wildcats are facing the Hawks at the right time seeing as the Hawks are stuck on a nine-game losing streak.
