Basketball Game Preview: San Leandro Pirates vs. Pittsburg Pirates

The San Leandro Pirates will venture away from home to face off against the Pittsburg Pirates at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. San Leandro is looking for their season's first victory.

Last Tuesday, San Leandro ended up a good deal behind Fremont and lost 70-54. While losing is never fun, the Pirates can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 994th, while the Tigers are ranked 296th).

Meanwhile, Pittsburg was not able to break out of their rough patch last Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss dating back to last season. They had to suffer through a 88-56 loss at the hands of Liberty.

San Leandro will have to contain Terrance Wiley as he made an impact in Pittsburg's last game. He posted 20 points. Richard Charles-Stanberry was another key player, putting up nine points.

San Leandro's defeat dropped their record down to 0-9. As for Pittsburg, their loss ended a 16-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 0-3.

San Leandro came up short against Pittsburg in their previous meeting back in January of 2016, falling 52-48. Can San Leandro avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
