Volleyball Recap: Calexico Makes It Seven in a Row on the Road

For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Calexico and Central meet (two straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Tuesday. The Bulldogs put the hurt on the Spartans with a sharp 3-0 win. This was a revenge game for the Bulldogs: when they faced off against the Spartans on April 10th, they had to take a 3-2 defeat.

Calexico walked away with the victory (and looked especially good in the third set). Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-20, 25-21, 25-15.

Calexico had a senior duo take command as Gerardo Diaz had 42 digs and five aces and Jose Pablo Reyna had 13 digs, two aces, and one block. Diaz is on a roll when it comes to digs, as he's now had 17 or more in each of the last 12 games he's played. Another player making a difference was Jose Contreras, who had eight digs and two aces.

Calexico was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 18 aces. That's the most aces they've posted since back in March.

Calexico's win was their seventh straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 21-6. As for Central, their loss dropped their record down to 19-13.

Calexico has already played their next match, a 3-0 victory against Southwest EC on the 30th. Central has also already played their next game (against Imperial), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
