Softball Recap: Le Grand Continues Home Dominance on Tuesday

With a playoff win on the line, Le Grand rose to the challenge on Tuesday. They had just enough and edged out the Big Valley Christian Lions 4-3. The victory was familiar territory for the Bulldogs, who have now won three matchups in a row.

Ava Avila spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on six hits and racked up nine Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Aaliyah Ceja, who got on base in three of her five plate appearances with five stolen bases and three runs. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 1 stolen bases per game.

Le Grand pushed their record up to 23-7 with the win, which was their 11th straight at home. The team dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 10.2 runs. As for Big Valley Christian, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-19.

Looking ahead, Le Grand will challenge Argonaut on Saturday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Bulldogs 2, the Mustangs 2.9) so any runs scored will be well earned. Big Valley Christian does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
