Recap: Dixie County Bears vs. Union County Fightin' Tigers
If The Dixie County Bears were feeling good off their 41-7 takedown of the Hamilton County Trojans last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Dixie County was beaten by Union County 42-8 on Thursday. Dixie County has struggled against Union County recently, as their contest on Thursday was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.
Union County was led to victory by Thomas Williams and Drew Simmons. Williams rushed for 89 yards and two touchdowns on only eight carries, while Simmons rushed for 117 yards and two touchdowns. Simmons was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 59 yards. Another player making a difference was Ras Woodall, who rushed for 52 yards and a touchdown.
Dixie County's loss dropped their record down to 6-3. As for Union County, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 5-3 record this season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Dixie County will take on North Florida Educational Institute at 7:30 p.m. on November 3rd. As for Union County, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Ambassadors Christian Academy at 7:30 p.m. on November 3rd. Ambassadors Christian Academy is hoping to put an end to a six-game streak of away losses.
