Orofino is on a five-game streak of home wins, while Grangeville is on a five-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Maniacs will host the Bulldogs at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
On Saturday, Orofino made easy work of St. Maries and carried off a 26-2 win. The Maniacs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine contests by ten runs or more this season.

Aiden Olive made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out eight batters over four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits (and only one walk). That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in March. He was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in all five of his plate appearances. He is becoming a predictor of Orofino's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 2-3 when he doesn't).
In other batting news, Orofino got a massive performance out of Jaeger Tondevold, who got on base in all five of his plate appearances with three stolen bases, three runs, and four RBI. Tondevold has become a key player for the Maniacs: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 2-3 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Blake Barlow, who scored four runs and stole a base while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances.
Orofino kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in five consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, Grangeville had just enough and edged out Challis 14-13 on Saturday. The Bulldogs haven't had any issues with the Vikings recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.
David Goicoa was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. Thayn Williams was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple.
Orofino has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-3 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Grangeville, their victory bumped their record up to 9-5.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Orofino has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.8 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Grangeville struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7.5 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Orofino beat Grangeville 8-4 when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Will the Maniacs repeat their success, or do the Bulldogs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
