Soccer Game Preview: Mar Vista vs. San Ysidro

Mar Vista hasn't had much luck against San Ysidro recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Mar Vista Mariners will be playing at home against the San Ysidro Cougars at 7:00 p.m. Neither squad made it on the board the last time they hit the pitch, so they've probably got a bit of extra motivation.

Mar Vista is headed into Tuesday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fifth straight game on Wednesday. They lost 5-1 to Montgomery. Eduardo Acosta-Contreras was hit with a yellow card, which may have had some impact on his (and the team's) ability to make aggressive plays.

Mar Vista's goal came courtesy of Carlo Castro MacIas, who's now up to four this season.

Meanwhile, San Ysidro entered their tilt with Sweetwater on Thursday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Their defense stepped up to hand the Red Devils a 1-0 shutout.

San Ysidro's win bumped their record up to 8-6-4. As for Mar Vista, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-8-3.

Mar Vista might still be hurting after the 6-2 loss they got from San Ysidro in their previous matchup back in January. That contest was all but decided by halftime, at which point Mar Vista was down 4-0.
