Football Recap: Mandarin Takes Down Crestview in a Playoff Battle

Mandarin had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They simply couldn't be stopped on Friday as they easily beat the Crestview Bulldogs 42-14. With the Mustangs ahead 28-7 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.

Shaunqueze Foster produced another solid performance rushing for 136 yards and three TDs while picking up 8.5 yards per carry. Those three rushing touchdowns gave him a new career-high. Another back making a difference was Kyree Wilson, who rushed for 77 yards and one touchdown on only seven carries.

Wins are hard to come by when you can't run the rock, something Mandarin proved: they limited Crestview to a paltry 2.6 yards per carry. The team can thank Keisean Douglas for the heroic effort on defense: he. Mandarin didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged eight.

Mandarin's defense didn't let the opposing QB, get away unscathed either: they got into the backfield for four sacks. Carmello Henley refused to say out of the backfield, picking up 1.5 sacks all by himself. Another thorn in Crestview's side was Kindrid Outland, who picked up a sack and made seven total tackles (2.0 for loss).

The victory was the sixth in a row for Mandarin, bringing their record up to 10-1. Those wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 14.2 points on average over those games. As for Crestview, they moved to 6-4 with that loss, which also ended their five-game winning streak.

Looking ahead, Mandarin will be playing at home against Pace at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. The Mustangs will need to watch out since the Patriots have now posted at least 31 points in their last three contests. Crestview does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
