Softball Recap: Mayfield Drops Season-High Score on Shaker Heights

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Mayfield walked away with it. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Shaker Heights Red Raiders a 25-0 shutout on Tuesday. The Wildcats' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Kameron Sills made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out nine over five innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in April. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-5 with six RBI, one run, and one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ella Mikesell, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, four runs, and five RBI. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Ella Garrett, who went 3-for-4 with four runs and one double.

Mayfield was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .410. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Shaker Heights only posted a batting average of .125.

The victory made it two in a row for Mayfield and bumps their season record up to 9-14. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 17.0 runs over those games. As for Shaker Heights, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 13-8 record this season.

As of now, neither Mayfield nor Shaker Heights have any future games scheduled.
