Baseball Game Preview: La Quinta Aztecs vs. Cate Rams

The La Quinta Aztecs will square off against the Cate Rams at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.

La Quinta is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They had just enough and edged out Rosemead 2-1. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Aztecs.

Meanwhile, it may have taken nine innings to finish the job, but Cate ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Azusa 3-2.

Quinn Pullen made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Noah Casbarro, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and two runs. Another player making a difference was Chase Meyer, who went 1-for-4 with two stolen bases and two RBI.

Cate has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-4 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.9 runs on average over those games. As for La Quinta, their victory bumped their record up to 16-7.
