Baseball Game Preview: Federal Hocking Lancers vs. Belpre Golden Eagles

Federal Hocking hasn't had much luck against Belpre recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Lancers are taking a road trip to square off against the Golden Eagles at 5:00 p.m.

Federal Hocking is headed into Thursday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their 29th straight game dating back to last season on Tuesday. They fell 6-1 to Trimble.

Meanwhile, Belpre owes their pitching crew a big pat on the back after their performance on Wednesday. They came out on top against Trimble by a score of 4-0. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Golden Eagles as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

Chris Copen was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 19 over seven innings pitched. He also tossed no walks, which is notable because Belpre is 2-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 1-3 otherwise. Copen was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.

Copen wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Ryan Owens, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI. Those RBI marked the first that Owens brought in this season.

Belpre picked up their first home win, bumping their record up to 3-4. As for Federal Hocking, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-7.

Federal Hocking might still be hurting after the 11-1 loss they got from Belpre when the teams last played on April 1st. Can the Lancers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
