Baseball Game Preview: Case Cardinals vs. Westport Wildcats

Case is 8-2 against Westport since April of 2017 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Cardinals will welcome the Wildcats at 3:45 p.m. Case will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each game than the last.

Case's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Monday. They walked away with a 5-0 win over Bourne. The Cardinals haven't had any issues with the Canalmen recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.

Not much got past Reid Ulmschneider, who gave up just three hits and racked up seven Ks to keep Bourne off the board. Ulmschneider has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up a single earned run in seven consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Zachary Kern, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jacob Weisburgh, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases.

Meanwhile, after some red-hot attacks at the plate in their last four contests, Westport finally came back down to earth on Thursday. They fell just short of Winchester by a score of 2-1. The Wildcats' defeat signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.

Westport's loss dropped their record down to 12-5-1. As for Case, their win bumped their record up to 6-10.

Case skirted past Westport 3-1 in their previous meeting back in April. Do the Cardinals have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Wildcats turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
