Football Recap: Bryson Lovelace's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Ashley over Laney

Ashley blew Laney out of the water the last time the pair played, but on Friday Laney got their revenge. The Screaming Eagle fell just short of the Buccaneers by a score of 21-18. Despite 85 more yards than the Buccaneers, the Screaming Eagle couldn't convert that extra yardage to scores.

Ashley lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Bryson Lovelace, who rushed for 67 yards and a pair of TDs. He is also on a roll when it comes to rushing touchdowns, as he's now punched in two or more in each of the last three games he's played.

The critical scores for Laney came from Ellis Williams, Ryan Gallagher, and Joquin Dingle.

Ashley's loss dropped their record down to 2-4. As for Laney, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 3-3 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Ashley will challenge rival North Brunswick at 7:00 p.m. on October 10. That contest will pit two of the most dominant backs against one another: Lovelace and Kane Jenrette. Meanwhile, Laney is set to square off against their familiar foe Topsail at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
