Basketball Recap: Sheets Memorial Christian Eagles vs. Asheboro Hybrid Academy Warriors
If the Sheets Memorial Christian Eagles were riding high off their 68-32 takedown of the Abundant Life Christian Academy KNIGHTS last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Sheets Memorial Christian took a 54-44 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Warriors on Friday. Sheets Memorial Christian lost against the Warriors in their previous head to head back in December of 2023, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 73-32 score last time.
Despite the loss, Sheets Memorial Christian saw an underclassman step up: Jude Howell scored 18 points along with five rebounds and two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Howell has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Levi Ferguson, who scored four points along with eight rebounds and two steals.
Levi Gaskins continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Asheboro Hybrid Academy, scoring 14 points along with seven rebounds. Another player making a difference was Carter Edmonds, who scored ten points along with three steals.
Sheets Memorial Christian's defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 4-15. As for Asheboro Hybrid Academy, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 10-8.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Sheets Memorial Christian will play host again and welcome the , where tip off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Asheboro Hybrid Academy, they will look to defend their home court on Monday against the Archers at 6:00 p.m. Bradford Academy is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'.
