Softball Recap: Piscataway Comes Up Short

Piscataway had lost 12 straight at home dating back to last season, but on Thursday they dropped their record down to 0-13 to make it 13. They came up short against the Perth Amboy Panthers, falling 24-12. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Monday (11), the Chiefs still had to take the loss.

Imane Pasteur led a balanced group of hitters, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Those hits marked the first that she has got this season. Natalia Young was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.

As for Perth Amboy, they are on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 12 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-4 record this season. The result was nothing new for Perth Amboy, who have now won six contests by seven runs or more so far this season.

On Perth Amboy's side, Edith Luciano and Jaidy Rodriguez did most of the damage at the plate: Luciano fired off three triples, four runs, and three RBI while going 4-for-4, while Rodriguez got on base in all five of her plate appearances with four stolen bases, five runs, and two RBI. Luciano has been hot recently, having posted at least one triple the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Izabella Pardo, who went 4-for-5 with four runs, three doubles, and one stolen base.
