Basketball Recap: Tennyson Comes Up Short

Tennyson was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They were outmatched by the Mt. Eden Monarchs and fell 77-41. While losing is never fun, the Lancers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 1047th, while the Monarchs are ranked 419th).

Several Lancers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Matthew Lorje, who went 5 of 9 on his way to 20 points and five steals. James Walker was another key player, putting up eight points and 12 boards.

Tennyson's loss dropped their record down to 6-17. As for Mt. Eden, they have been performing well recently as they've won eight of their last ten matches, which provided a nice bump to their 14-9 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Tennyson will square off against Arroyo at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Mt. Eden, they will take on Encinal at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
