Flag Football Recap: Gardendale Comes Up Short

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Gardendale can now relate to. They took a blow against the Spain Park Jaguars on Tuesday, falling 34-0. Having soared to a lofty 32 points in the game before, the Rockets' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Even if they lost, Gardendale's defensive line still kept up the pressure with four sacks. In fact, those sacks all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Chloe Cleveland. She is on a roll when it comes to sacks, as she's now posted at least one in each of the last six games she's played.

Spain Park's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Chenelle Hunter, who picked up 52 receiving yards and one touchdown, and also rushed for 38 yards and one score. Hunter was even better on defense, making nine total tackles and defending one pass in addition to snagging three interceptionstwo of which were returned for touchdowns. Jenna Kate Hutchison was another key passer, throwing for 171 yards and one TD.

Gardendale's defeat dropped their record down to 5-4. As for Spain Park, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 13-5.

Gardendale does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Spain Park, they will challenge Oxford at 6:00 p.m. on the 12th. The two teams have allowed few points on average (the Jaguars 9.7, the Yellow Jackets 13) so any points scored will be well earned.
