Despite a phenomenal run in the regular season, Hayfield couldn't carry that success into this playoff game. They took a 61-53 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Woodson Cavaliers on Friday. The Hawks' defeat signaled the end of their 12-game winning streak.

Hayfield lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Jaylen Lemon, who went 6-for-11 on his way to 15 points and five rebounds. He is also on a roll when it comes to shooting accuracy, as he's posted one of at least 47% in the last four games he's played. Parker Cage was another key player, putting up ten points.

Woodson's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was William Taylor, who posted 14 points along with seven boards and three blocks. Another player making a difference was Kaylen Chilton, who shot 57% from the field to rack up 20 points and seven rebounds.

Hayfield's loss dropped their record down to 23-6. As for Woodson, their win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 23-4.

The two teams are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. Hayfield will head out on the road to square off against South Lakes at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hayfield is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 52.7 points per game this season. As for Woodson, they will take on Westfield at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Westfield has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
