Basketball Game Preview: Thomas Stone Cougars vs. Northern Patriots

Thomas Stone is on a three-game streak of home losses, Northern a three-game streak of away losses, but someone's luck will change on Friday. The Thomas Stone Cougars will host the Northern Patriots at 6:30 p.m.

On Wednesday, Thomas Stone ended up a good deal behind Lackey and lost 61-43. While losing is never fun, the Cougars can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Maryland basketball rankings (they are ranked 227th, while the Chargers are ranked 49th).

Meanwhile, Northern hadn't done well against Westlake recently (they were 0-8 in their previous eight matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Wednesday. Northern came out on top against Westlake by a score of 52-45. The score was all tied up 22-22 at the break, but the Patriots were the better team in the second half.

Thomas Stone's loss dropped their record down to 3-11. As for Northern, their victory bumped their record up to 11-4.

Thomas Stone strolled past Northern in their previous meeting back in February of 2024 by a score of 73-55. Will Thomas Stone repeat their success, or does Northern have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
