Softball Game Preview: Maypearl Panthers vs. Blooming Grove Lions

The Maypearl Panthers will face off against the Blooming Grove Lions at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Maypearl will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each contest than the last.

Maypearl took a loss when they played away from home on Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They came out on top against Palmer by a score of 9-6. The victory was some much needed relief for the Panthers as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

Alyssa Rogers spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned (and one unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up nine Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Bailey Short, who fired off two home runs while going 2-for-3. That's the most home runs she has posted since back in March.

Meanwhile, Blooming Grove has relied on a stalwart pitchers averaging 3.36 runs allowed per game, but that average took a hit on Friday. They lost 19-3 to Grandview. The Lions have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Maypearl now has a winning record of 12-11-2. As for Blooming Grove, their defeat dropped their record down to 21-4.
