Basketball Recap: West Broward Falls Despite Big Games from Matthew Martinez and Bedirhan Menguc

West Broward was the 66-61 winner over Flanagan when they last played one another back in February of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The West Broward Bobcats took a 59-51 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Flanagan Falcons on Friday.

Despite the defeat, West Broward had strong showings from Bedirhan Menguc, who went 6 of 10 en route to 14 points, and Matthew Martinez, who posted nine points.

Jason Carias was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on ten points and ten boards for Flanagan. With that strong performance, Carias is now averaging an impressive 2.1 steals per game. Dominic Carias was another key player, putting up nine points.

West Broward's loss was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 3-8. As for Flanagan, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-8.

West Broward didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 62-57 defeat against McArthur on the 14th. Flanagan has also already played their next match, a 57-53 loss against Piper on the 14th.
