Basketball Game Preview: Eastern Wayne Warriors vs. Southern Wayne Saints

The Eastern Wayne Warriors will head out to face off against the Southern Wayne Saints at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Eastern Wayne's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season.

While Eastern Wayne didn't have the best season last year (they finished 11-15), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They secured an 81-75 W over North Pitt on Wednesday.

Eastern Wayne's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Bobby Tann, who posted 24 points. The dominant performance gave Tann a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Michael Bailey, who earned 22 points.

Meanwhile, the third road match was the charm for Southern Wayne, as they earned their first road win of the season. They managed a 69-63 victory over James Kenan on Tuesday. With that win, the Saints brought their scoring average up to 51.8 points per game.

Southern Wayne's win came from a few key players Eastern Wayne will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Kairell Evans, who dropped a double-double on 24 points and ten boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaden Hardy, who almost dropped a double-double on 14 points and nine boards.

Southern Wayne's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-3. As for Eastern Wayne, their win bumped their record up to 4-1.

Eastern Wayne was able to grind out a solid victory over Southern Wayne in their previous matchup back in December of 2023, winning 69-60. Will Eastern Wayne repeat their success, or does Southern Wayne have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
