Basketball Game Preview: Mt. Carmel Sundevils vs. Mission Hills Grizzlies

Mt. Carmel is 1-6 against Mission Hills since January of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Mt. Carmel Sundevils are taking a road trip to challenge the Mission Hills Grizzlies at 7:00 p.m. Mt. Carmel is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 51.6 points per game this season.

Mt. Carmel is headed into Friday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their sixth straight game on Tuesday. The match between them and Del Norte didn't end well, with Mt. Carmel falling 54-40. While losing is never fun, the Sundevils can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 722nd, while the Nighthawks are ranked 292nd).

The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Makai Orje, who posted 14 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaylon Boyd, who put up eight points and seven rebounds.

Meanwhile, Mission Hills made easy work of Westview on Tuesday and carried off a 41-21 win.

Mission Hills has also been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 11 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 15-8 record this season. As for Mt. Carmel, their loss dropped their record down to 5-18.

Mt. Carmel might still be hurting after the 58-38 defeat they got from Mission Hills in their previous meeting on January 14th. Can Mt. Carmel avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
