Basketball Recap: Rosalia Martinez Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Mitchell

Pueblo Central's game last Monday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Wednesday. They took down the Mitchell Marauders 42-24. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Wildcats also won the last time the pair played back in January.

Pueblo Central's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Rosalia Martinez, who posted 12 points. The dominant performance gave Martinez a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Sophia Perez, who put up nine points.

The victory got Pueblo Central back to even at 1-1. As for Mitchell, their loss was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-3.

Pueblo Central won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Lewis-Palmer at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Mitchell, they will also get right back to it: they'll face off against Pueblo East at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Pueblo East's defense has only allowed 24 points per game this season, so Mitchell's offense will have their work cut out for them.
