Volleyball Recap: Linn Starts Season with Win on the Road

Linn had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They walked away with a 2-0 victory over the Axtell Eagles on Tuesday. The Bulldogs haven't had any issues with the Eagles recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

Linn easily took the second set, but they let things get interesting in the other. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-17, 25-9.

Gretchen Bott paced Linn's offense, picking up ten kills. Bott really made an impact as she also led the team in assists with ten. Sophia Hiltgen controlled things from the service line, finishing with four aces.

Axtell's defeat was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 3-3.

Coincidentally, Linn and Axtell will both be playing Hanover the next time they take the court. The Bulldogs will head out to face the Wildcats at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, while the Eagles will play them later in the day, at 7:00 p.m.
