Basketball Game Preview: Albuquerque Bulldogs vs. Los Lunas Tigers

Albuquerque has gone 9-1 against Los Lunas recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Saturday. The Albuquerque Bulldogs will host the Los Lunas Tigers at 1:00 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Last Friday, Albuquerque didn't have too much trouble with West Mesa as they won 62-43. The win continues a trend for the Bulldogs in their matchups with the Mustangs: they've now won six in a row.

Albuquerque's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Abby Pavia, who almost dropped a double-double with 18 points and nine rebounds. The game was Pavia's fourth in a row with at least 16 points. Sarah Garcia was another key player, going 6-for-12 en route to 14 points in addition to eight boards and five assists.

Albuquerque was working as a unit and finished the game with 22 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, Los Lunas had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 62 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Thursday. Everything went their way against the Mustangs as they made off with a 55-31 victory. The Tigers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 14 matches by 21 points or more this season.

Los Lunas' win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 23-5. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 20.0 points over those games. As for Albuquerque, their victory bumped their record up to 20-5.

Albuquerque didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Los Lunas when the teams last played two weeks ago, but they still walked away with a 50-46 win.
