Football Recap: Parkland's Win Ends Five-Game Losing Streak on the Road

Parkland won the last time they faced Bel Air and Jesse Molina did his part to make sure it happened again. The Matadors strolled past the Highlanders with points to spare on Thursday, taking the game 49-33 thanks in part to Molina, who threw for 302 yards and five touchdowns while completing 78.3% of his passes, and also rushed for 79 yards and one TD on only nine carries. His passing game has become a key predictor of Parkland's success: the team is 2-1 when his passer rating is 110 or higher, but only 1-5 otherwise.

Jamal Rocha was Molina's top target, picking up 103 receiving yards and three scores. Rocha was no stranger to the big play, cutting upfield on a catch that went for 50 yards.

Several Highlanders players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Angel Dominguez, who rushed for 136 yards and a pair of touchdowns while picking up 8.0 yards per carry, and also threw for 254 yards and three TDs. Dominguez's rushing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his third straight game with at least 101 rushing yards. Another receiver making a difference was Marquette Beard, who picked up 184 receiving yards and a pair of scores.

Parkland's win ended a five-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-6. As for Bel Air, their loss was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 2-7.

Parkland and Bel Air could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings. The Matadors will square off against El Dorado at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday with a big rank disadvantage (665 vs. 147). Meanwhile, Bel Air (ranked 823rd) will meet Americas (ranked 348th) at 7:30 p.m. on the 7th.
