Softball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Leon

Leon took a ten-run loss the last time they faced off against Taylor County, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. Leon had just enough and edged out Taylor County 13-12 on Thursday. The victory was familiar territory for the Lions, who have now won three matchups in a row.

Trinity Williams was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing three bases while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances. Those three stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Kierstyn Fuller was another key player, going 3-for-5 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.

Leon was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .382. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Taylor County only posted a batting average of .225.

Leon's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-4. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 16.7 runs over those games. As for Taylor County, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-11.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Leon will challenge Aucilla Christian at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Taylor County, they will square off against Trenton at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Trenton's pitching crew has only allowed 2.7 runs per game this season, so Taylor County's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
