Recap: Sierra Vista Mountain Lions vs. Green Valley Gators
The Sierra Vista Mountain Lions missed an extra point against the Green Valley Gators on Thursday and it came back to haunt them. Sierra Vista was just a hair shy of victory and fell 40-39 to Green Valley. The matchup was a 9-9 toss-up at halftime, but Sierra Vista was just barely outscored by Green Valley in the second.
Adonis Vaughn and Omari Evans certainly did their best on Thursday to try and avoid the loss. Vaughn rushed for 110 yards and a touchdown, while Evans rushed for 69 yards and three touchdowns.
Green Valley's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jack Thow led the charge by throwing for 176 yards and four touchdowns. Green Valley also got help from Theo Edquilang who showed off his sure hands for 86 receiving yards.
Sierra Vista now has a losing record at 4-5. As for Green Valley, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-6.
Sierra Vista does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Green Valley will head out on the road to face off against Basic at 6:00 p.m. on November 3rd. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Nevada (Basic is ranked 12th, while Green Valley is ranked 16th).
