Recap: Hilmar Yellowjackets vs. Pioneer Patriots
It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but the Hilmar Yellowjackets had no problem doing just that on Thursday. They came out on top against Pioneer by a score of 41-32. Winning may never get old, but Hilmar sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.
It was another big night for Caden Bailey, who rushed for 202 yards and two touchdowns on only 13 carries, and also picked up 145 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Bailey's longest rush was for an incredible 85 yards. Another player making a difference was Logan Cardoso, who rushed for 92 yards and two touchdowns.
Pioneer's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performance. Perhaps the best among them was Martin Bartz, who threw for 237 yards and four touchdowns while completing 75% of his passes, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground. The team also got some help courtesy of Devion Corley, who picked up 136 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Hilmar has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season. As for Pioneer, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-4.
Hilmar is on the road again on November 17th and play against Casa Roble at 7:00 p.m. on November 17th. Casa Roble has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 319 points over their last six contests. Pioneer does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
