Preview: Crowley Gent vs. St. Martinville Tigers

The Crowley Gent will head out on the road to face off against the St. Martinville Tigers at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Crowley has now lost 11 straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 8.

Crowley pushed their score all the way to 59 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 72-59 hit to the loss column at the hands of Erath. Crowley has not had much luck with Erath recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.

Crowley's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Joe'Kye Pete, who almost dropped a double-double on 18 points and nine rebounds, and Alaysia Arvie who scored 21 points along with seven assists and seven rebounds. That was a full 35.6% of Crowley's points, marking the ninth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.

Something new happened on Tuesday as Pete saw her first action of the season, playing 29 minutes against Erath. Pete made the most of the opportunity, almost dropping a double-double on 18 points and nine rebounds. A few more games like that and she might be seeing even more time going forward.

Even though they lost, Crowley were working as a unit and finished the game with 14 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

St. Martinville has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They were just a bucket shy of victory on Friday and fell 44-43 to Kaplan.

Crowley dropped their record down to 3-14 with that loss, which was their fifth straight at home. St. Martinville's record is now 18-6.

Crowley was taken down by St. Martinville 66-21 in their previous matchup back in January. The matchup was all but decided by halftime, at which point Crowley was down 48-9.
