Basketball Recap: Riverside Generals vs. Creekside Knights

Riverside lost against Creekside back in February, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Riverside Generals took a 44-34 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Creekside Knights. While losing is never fun, the Generals can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 129th, while the Knights are ranked 19th).

Defeat or not, Riverside got some senior leadership from Brandi Chambers and Kennis Gray. Chambers earned eight points in addition to eight rebounds and two steals, while Gray scored five points plus four steals. What's more, Gray also racked up three offensive rebounds, the most she's had since back in December of 2023.

Creekside was led to victory by Cami Waters and Presley Brinkley. Waters went 5 for 11 en route to 14 points plus seven rebounds and two blocks, while Brinkley earned 14 points in addition to two steals. Brinkley is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last six games she's played. Brie McCoy was another key player, posting eight points in addition to 18 rebounds.

This is the second loss in a row for Riverside and nudges their season record down to 3-4. As for Creekside, their victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 7-1.

Riverside will face off against Stanton at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Creekside, they will take on Fleming Island at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
