Softball Game Preview: Natrona County Mustangs vs. Thunder Basin Bolts

The Natrona County Mustangs will venture away from home to challenge the Thunder Basin Bolts at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Thunder Basin took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Natrona County, who comes in off a win.

Natrona County is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. Everything went their way against Worland back in April as they made off with a 23-9 victory. The Mustangs haven't had any issues with the Warriors recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.

Meanwhile, Thunder Basin faced Campbell County in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Tuesday. The Bolts might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 23-12 to the Camels, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior. The Bolts' loss continues a trend for the team, making it five in a row.

Divina Schmid was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. Another player making a difference was Addy Rouse, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI and one double.

The victory got Natrona County back to even at 2-2. As for Thunder Basin, their defeat dropped their record down to 17-7.

Natrona County couldn't quite finish off Thunder Basin in their previous meeting back in May of 2024 and fell 9-7. Can the Mustangs avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
